Ministero
The Ministry of Arts and Culture in Italy serves both the Italian and international communities through its 'Office for the Promotion of Books and Reading', and provides economic incentives to the publishing industry. Publications are promoted abroad by furnishing reading centers with books, participating in book fairs and conventions, and providing incentives for the translation of Italian works. Prizes are awarded annually to translators, as well as to Italian and foreign publishers. The publishing industry is further supported with contributions to learned Italian journals, to exporters of Italian books, and with loan guarantees for the production of books making a significant contribution to Italian cultural studies.
